Rustic Wedding at the Barn at Evergreen Memorial Park

I have been so excited to share this wedding with all of you for a few weeks. Actually ever since Chip and Allison contacted me and told me about their ideas and their venue! Chip and Allison's big day took place at the Barn at Evergreen Memorial Park in Evergreen, Colorado... which I think wins my favorite venue of the year award!

The Couple: Chip and Allison met at the beginning of their senior year of high school when they were camp counselors at High Trails (a camp for Colorado Springs 6th graders). They ended up falling in love and when Allison left for college and Chip shipped out to basic training for the Marines, they made a promise to each other with a ring. Their original wedding date was in June of 2012, but then they found out that Chip was being deployed to Afghanistan and wouldn't be able to make it to his own wedding, so they postponed it and had a small 'unremarkable' courthouse ceremony so that Allison would have all of the rights of a spouse while Chip was deployed in Afghanistan. They lived a long distance relationship for over two years and were separated by more than 2,000 miles the whole time.
Last November, they were finally reunited and Allison moved to North Carolina to be with him.

The Venue: The Barn at Evergreen Memorial Park is actually a conglomeration of 5 separate barns that were scheduled to be torn down due to a highway extension. These barns were purchased and all of their best details were combined to make one large barn. They added special touches like the unique light fixtures and the gorgeous stained glass that was imported from Germany. Also on the grounds are an elk heard (pictured below) and a bison heard including an albino bison (we didn't see them that night).
This rustic venue fit Chip and Allison's style perfectly and really accentuated all of the details that Allison worked so hard to plan and put together.

Shoes: David's Bridal
The Necklace:
Allison's gold heart-shaped locket necklace was lent to her by her Granny, who wore it on her wedding day nearly 60 years prior. Her aunt and mother also wore the same necklace for their wedding days. Inside, her Grandfather etched in "November 1955", which is the date that he eloped with her Granny in New Mexico to get married because her  Granny was too young to get married in their home state of Kansas!
They were married for 51 years until her grandpa passed!

The Earrings: Francesca's
The Garter: David's Bridal
The Flowers:

Chip and Allison actually found their florist by accident. Since Allison was planning their wedding from 2,000 miles away in North Carolina, her parents did a fantastic job of meeting with the vendors when Allison couldn't. After meeting with 3 other florists in one day, they stopped by to get some delicious pastries from Dave, the baker that they had chosen for the wedding. He was not in the shop and they ended up talking to the next door neighbor, Julie the florist at Hearts in Blooms. Julie became their florist and took Allison's vision (conveyed entirely over the phone and email because of the distance) and made it become a perfect reality!

The Dress:

Allison kept her dress secret from Chip for two years... and he didn't see it until she walked down the aisle.

The Cocktail Hour:

Signature Drinks:

Chip's signature drink was a classic "7 &7" made with Seagram's 7 Whiskey and 7-Up

Allison's signature drink was a "Summer Shandy" which is a 50/50 mix of fresh lemonade and an Easy Street Beer, which is an unfiltered wheat beer that is brewed right down the road in Fort Collins, CO at O'dell Brewing Company.

The Mugs:
webstaurantstore.com and the labels and straws were found on etsy.com

The Food:

Chip and Allison's favorite food is Barbecue.... so what better food to have at their wedding then some good down-home pulled pork, beef brisket, smoked chicken and all the 'fixens'? They chose Cabin Creek Smokehouse because all of their meats are slow cooked in a smoker all day, they have 4 delicious signature sauces and delicious mac n' cheese!

After a lovely first dance, Allison and her dad had one of the most emotional Daddy/Daughter Dances I had ever seen.... Allison's sweet mom Kelly was bawling the whole time in the background and Allison and Allen invited her to come join them. So incredibly adorable.

The Cake & Baked Goods:

Dave Knight at Bee Sweet did an incredible job on all of the baked goods for Chip and Allison's wedding!

Dave makes everything from scratch and even handpicks the berries that he uses to make his home made jams and fillings! He is dedicated to sourcing everything locally and partnering with the other entrepreneurs and small businesses in the area to keep the small mountain towns thriving! The week prior to the wedding, there were torrential downpours in Evergreen that flooded his shop. He worked so hard to get everything back in order and get everything ready for Chip and Allison's big day. Allison made me try some of the cake and pastries (I wasn't DYING to try them at all ;) Just kidding.... The second Dave brought them in, my stomach was aching to try them! ) and they were even more delicious than words could describe!

  1. I simply wanted to appreciate you yet again. I am not sure what I would have used without the type of information shared by you directly on such a subject. This was a very alarming setting in my view, however , spending time with a skilled mode you handled that made me to cry for fulfillment. I am just happy for this information and thus hope you are aware of a great job you are doing teaching most people using a blog. I know that you’ve never got to know all of us.
